October 20, 2012

Fujairah Culture and Media Authority (FCMA) concluded on Saturday October 20, 2012 the Fujairah Photography Award (FPA) orientation tour. The current third edition of the award has 40 participants from different nationalities and FCMA has organized a tour for them so that they can get to know each other and get more familiar with the award's rules and conditions. The tour included places related to the themes of the competition such as Al Bidya Fishermen Association, Al Aqah and Al Faqeet areas in Dibba, and Wadi Al Wurayah. Participants were very delighted to visit these places and take photos that might actually qualify them to win the award. The fishermen at Al Bidya Fishermen Association performed a demo of the fishing process while they were singing traditional fishing songs and allowed the participants to take exceptional photos of them.
Mr. Abdulla Haroun, Chairman of the Association said: "We're very happy to cooperate with this Award as it gives Arab and international photographers a chance to know our heritage. Photos play a significant part in preserving this heritage and making it a theme in a big award like this is a good idea". He added: "I'd like to thank H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi for his generous sponsorship of the award, and FCMA for choosing us to assist in helping the participants. We are very happy to receive our guests in this tour and wish them all the best".
The tour continued to Al Aqah area and took photos of the trees, the sea and the surrounding mountains. Mito Sombrero, a participant from the Philippines, said: "I'm very relieved and happy. I was able to take great photos during the tour in spite of the sun and the heat". Ahmad Rashid, an Emirati participant, added: "The tour is excellent, and the landscapes on the eastern coast allowed us to take magnificent photos. I love photography as a hobby and a means of documenting my life, but I would also like to be a professional photographer one day".
After the lunch break at the Sandy Beach Motel that combines heritage and modernity in its design and architecture, the participants moved on to Al Faqeet area in Dibba to take photos of the wonderful scenic nature there. The tour was concluded in Wadi Al Wurayah with its amazing natural details and untouched beauty.
Claudia Saba from Lebanon said: "I came from Dubai to participate in the award and take part in this tour. I really wanted to participate even though I'm only an amateur photographer. I took a number of photography courses in Egypt but I don't consider myself professional. I love beauty and I take photos of everything that I consider to be beautiful". About the Award's organization, Claudia added: "I've participated in a number of photography competitions and this is the first time that I experience such a dedicated organization. The tour FCMA organized is fantastic and extremely helpful. I also felt very happy and relieved to meet the organizers and other participants. Everything was truly wonderful!".
Sheikha Almesmari, a participant from the UAE, expressed her happiness with the diverse group of participants who were passionate about capturing the beauty of her country and emirate. She said: "It's a wonderful feeling to see photographers from different parts of the world interested in photographing the landmarks of my city. I would like to thank H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi for sponsoring the award and FCMA for its great organization".
