FPA Exhibition in Le Méridien Al Aqah

A photo exhibition showcasing the winning entries and other selected entries from the Fujairah Photography Award (FPA) was inaugurated yesterday Monday June 3rd, 2013 at the main hall of Le Méridien Al Aqah hotel in Dibba, Fujairah. The exhibition, which is organized by Fujairah Culture and Media Authority (FCMA) in cooperation with Le Méridien Al Aqah Hotel, was inaugurated by FCMA's board member Abdulla Al Suwaidi in the presence of Yahya Al-Qaisi, Head of Cultural Affairs Dept at FCMA, Salah Hamad, Deputy General Manager of Le Méridien Al Aqah hotel and a large number of guests from different nationalities.

The exhibition brought together about 50 selected photos innovatively highlighting heritage and nature in Fujairah and the Arab World. These photos were taken by a group of professional photographers who were honored recently at the FPA's award distribution ceremony under the patronage and presence of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince of Fujairah.


Al Suwaidi said after taking a look at the exhibition: "These photos document the aesthetic aspects of Fujairah's nature and heritage, and holding such exhibitions in Dibba and in particular at the Le Méridien hotel is a wise step as it's full of tourists who are interested in knowing more about Fujairah". He thanked H.H. Sheikh Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of FCMA, for his constant support for the visual arts and for creativity both at the local and the Arab levels.


The showcased photos include the winning entries of the award taken by the following photographers: Fahad Abdulla (1st Prize), Abdul Rasoul Al Jabri (2nd Prize) and Yousif Sibaa (3rd Prize). The winners of the local competition were: Karim Sahib (1st Prize), Saeed Abdulla Jumouh (2nd Prize) and Donell Gumiran (3rd Prize). The Grand Prize was won by photographer Mario B. Cardenas, and the Discretionary Prize was awarded to Sulaiman Ahmed Al Hammadi.
