The organizing committee of the 4th cycle of Fujairah Photography Awards 2012-2013 (FPA), has extended the final date for works submission from December 31, 2012 to January 31, 2013. The move was aimed at giving competitors ample time to present their works taking in mind that this is the best time of the year to take photos of natural scenes in the Emirate of Fujairah. In its meeting the committee also discussed issues of forming the contest jury, which is to have five members plus one from the Levantine countries and one from North Africa countries. The organizing panel members are Ibrahim Alan, Executive Director of Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, Jasim Rabea Al Awadi, the contest supervisor and Nadrah Badree of the Arab Union of Photographers.
Some 255 photographers presented their entries for this year's version of the competition, which is more than triple the 80 entries presented to the 2012-2011 cycle. The door has been closed for entries submission on July 31, 2012.
This overwhelming response from local as well as expatriate photographers, amateur and professional alike, reflects the great achievement of annual contest since its inception in 2007 by Fujairah Culture and Media Authority as a realization of the directives of H.H.Sheikh Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority . It also stands as a manifestation of the distinguished success the award attained in the local and Arab cultural and arts circles.
The year's version of the award includes an Arab photography competition under the slogan; "Heritage, customs and local handcrafts" organized in association with the Arab Union of Photographers and participation in which is open for photographers from across the Arab countries.
The award was very helpful in promoting the touristic, cultural, scenery and economic potentials of Fujairah.
